Flea is about a girl that lives on a council estate. The whole film is a spoken word poem that was commissioned by BBC iplayer. The film takes you through a girl experiencing abuse from her step dad towards her brother and her plot to stop it. The film tricks you in to thinking she’s the one dong drugs, when she is actually planting them to get her step dad arrested.
I really enjoyed this film because it made you realise knowledge is power. The girl makes you think about the bigger picture, and the things you can do in life to help yourself. The acting in it was brilliant and each character was captured well. I especially like how there was an even balance of male and female characters.
Vanessa Castile is the director and she said that she didn’t like the script at first but after more reading she loved it because of its naturalism and the way it addressed domestic abuse.
