The Shootout

The task is to create a 60 second film of a shootout scene, with no guns. At first our initial thoughts were to create a short about a phone text. To have a split screen view, then to have two people waiting on a text from the other person. We have issues on how engaged the viewer would be. We then came up with the idea of a bench race. With close shots of two people (in this case Joey and i) racing to see who would sit down first on the bench. Plot twist when ash sits before us both.

We were inspired by the shoot out scenes from: The good the bad and the ugly, Rango, Pirates of the Caribbean and Breaking Bad.

We knew we couldn’t use guns, so we had to think out of the box and get creative about how to create the tension and suspense with cut shots and music. Body language and facial expressions are going to be key in order for our film to be effective.
